Centre for Health Leadership and Research
Focusing on applied health leadership research to foster leadership development and health systems transformation in the Canadian health care system
The Centre for Health Leadership and Research is an applied research centre at Royal Roads University that explores and examines current and emerging challenges related to leadership in the health care system.
Established in September 2006, the Centre for Health Leadership and Research is a focal point for development of an integrated health sector strategy at Royal Roads University (RRU) that brings together the university's health leadership-related research, teaching (certificate and degree programs), professional development services and formal partnerships.
The Centre for Health Leadership and Research focuses on health systems transformation through leadership research. Its objectives are:
- To conduct applied problem-solving research to identify, collect, refine and understand leading practices of exceptional health leadership and leadership development within the BC, Canadian, and international health systems.
- To advocate for, mobilize and share knowledge gained during exceptional health leadership to develop provincial and national initiatives toward health system transformation (e.g., symposia; workshops; conferences; articles; manuscripts; books).
- To advance leadership development methodologies (e.g., needs assessments, curricula, programs, tools, techniques, and services) that can be used in support of cutting edge leadership development solutions in the health sector (and other sectors, where applicable).
- To serve health leaders as the 'go to' place for developing and sharing knowledge pertaining to key leadership issues facing the health system in Canada.
